LineageOS support finally comes to the Galaxy S22 series

LineageOS 23 nightly builds are now available for the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra, bringing Android 16 to the devices as official support winds down. The custom ROM offers a cleaner AOSP-like experience with potential performance gains and no AI if users omit certain apps, with an Android 17 update likely arriving in the coming months.

With about 6 months left in the “official” support window, it’s great to see that LineageOS support has finally come to the Samsung Galaxy S22. Apart from a solitary Galaxy S23 model, these are the latest Galaxy devices to be supported by LineageOS, and the timing feels apt given that many owners might be looking to extend the lifespan of their phones as updates slowly wind down. The S23 series isn’t one of the lucky 7-year update plan devices.
