# LineageOS support finally comes to the Galaxy S22 series > Source: > Published: 2026-08-17 09:44:35+00:00 With about 6 months left in the “official” support window, it’s great to see that LineageOS support has finally come to the Samsung Galaxy S22. Apart from a solitary Galaxy S23 model, these are the latest Galaxy devices to be supported by LineageOS, and the timing feels apt given that many owners might be looking to extend the lifespan of their phones as updates slowly wind down. The S23 series isn’t one of the lucky 7-year update plan devices. Anyone with the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra is now able to get LineageOS 23 [nightly builds and get Android 16 on their phones](https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/#samsung). If you’re not a fan of One UI 8, which itself is actually a solid update for Samsung phones, then you can go back to a cleaner AOSP-like aesthetic with some potential performance bonuses and absolutely zero AI if you choose to omit certain apps from your phone. LineageOS has come a long way and could be a great way to breathe some new life into the Galaxy S22, with a potential Android 17 update for the ROM likely arriving in the coming months after Google dropped the full release a couple of months ago.
