Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s daughter Madison tours LG’s Seoul robot data factory as partnership accelerates

LG Electronics is stepping up its robotics partnership with Nvidia, accelerating efforts to build training data for humanoid robots.

Madison Huang, Nvidia's senior director of product marketing for omniverse and robotics and the eldest daughter of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, visited LG Electronics' Yangjae research and development campus in southern Seoul on Tuesday to inspect the company's robotics data factory.

Her visit came four days after LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Jensen Huang signed a memorandum of understanding at Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, to expand cooperation in physical AI, AI infrastructure and mobility.

At the LG campus, Madison Huang was joined by senior executives including LG Electronics CEO Lyu Jae-cheol, LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-gyoon and LG Sciencepark President Chung Sue-hyun.

She was welcomed by LG Electronics' CLOiD robot, which presented her with a bouquet. Huang later left a handwritten message reading, "Amazing LG."

During the visit, executives from the two companies reviewed progress at the Yangjae data factory, which LG plans to bring into full operation by the end of the year.

LG Electronics is deploying its CLOiD robots at the facility to generate and collect data for robot training across a range of simulated environments.

In a space designed to resemble a home, the robots perform household tasks such as cleaning. Another area replicates operations at LG Electronics' washing machine plant in Tennessee, where robots move and stack parts and carry out assembly work.

Robots are also being used in training spaces for LG CNS' logistics automation solutions and LG Innotek's robotic-hand systems.

The data collected from those tasks is processed using Nvidia's robotics solutions, including data augmentation and synthetic data generation, before being fed back into the training process.

LG Electronics expects to collect 100,000 hours of robot training data at the Yangjae facility by the end of this year, equivalent to nearly 12 years of continuous operation.

The company plans to use the data to advance its robot foundation model, a core AI model that helps robots perceive their surroundings, understand instructions and perform physical tasks.

The model is particularly important for humanoids, which need to handle a wide range of objects and adapt to changing environments rather than repeat a limited set of programmed movements.

"We will secure competitiveness in physical AI by bringing together the group's core capabilities under the 'One LG' approach and through strategic cooperation with global partners," Lyu said.

"We aim to become a total robotics solutions provider."

LG Electronics also disclosed details of its cooperation with Nvidia in its half-year report released Friday.

The company said it is carrying out joint projects combining LG's robot hardware and manufacturing capabilities with Nvidia's physical AI technology stack.

The projects cover manufacturing robots from proof-of-concept testing through deployment at actual production sites, according to the report.
