Let skills in Gemini tackle your most repetitive tasks Google rolled out skills globally in Gemini chat, letting users save reusable instructions that run by typing a forward slash and the skill name in the prompt bar, and said the feature will reach Google Workspace business, enterprise, nonprofit, and education customers in the coming weeks. Skills will replace Gems, with support for Gems removed starting in November for personal accounts, March 2027 for Workspace business, enterprise, and nonprofit customers, and June 2027 for Workspace education customers; Google will automatically migrate existing Gems into skills. Skills can now include reference files such as plain text documents, PDFs, or images, and multiple skills can be stacked at once. Let skills in Gemini tackle your most repetitive tasks With skills, you can save your most-used instructions once and run them endlessly — so you can skip the repetitive prompting and jump straight to the results. Skills are already available in Gemini Spark, and they will soon replace Gems as the tool for tailoring instructions for specific tasks. Today, we’re rolling out skills directly into Gemini chat globally
