# Lenovo Capital takes aim at robotics, coding agents in ‘sniper’ AI investment strategy

Chinese firm makes long-term bets on 100 artificial intelligence companies, from chip and hardware manufacturers to models and applications

[Lenovo Group](https://www.scmp.com/topics/lenovo?module=inline&pgtype=article)is doubling down on artificial intelligence for the next industrial cycle, expanding its focus beyond foundational models into robotics, computing infrastructure and AI agents, according to a senior executive.Lenovo Capital has made long-term bets on more than 100 AI companies across the value chain, ranging from

[chips and hardware infrastructure](https://www.scmp.com/tech/tech-trends/article/3362002/profits-chinas-chipmaking-sector-soar-2500-first-half-amid-ai-boom?module=inline&pgtype=article)to models and applications, Song Chunyu, chief investment officer and senior partner at the unit, told the South China Morning Post and other media on Tuesday.AI-related businesses now make up nearly one-third of the fund’s roughly 300 portfolio holdings, he said.

“From a global perspective, AI is now the most important theme for the

[venture capital industry](https://www.scmp.com/tech/policy/article/3361779/investment-chinese-characteristics-how-beijings-money-reshaping-tech-ventures?module=inline&pgtype=article),” said Song, who is also a vice-president at Lenovo Group. “This is like the fourth industrial [revolution] … where AI evolution … has reached a [tipping] point.”Since helping establish Lenovo’s corporate venture arm in 2016, Song has driven a “sniper” investment philosophy, focused on targeting top performers in key frontier technology sectors rather than spraying capital across the market.
