Knack Names Tim Costantino Chief Product Officer to Lead Healthcare Expansion

Knack appointed Tim Costantino, formerly Senior Vice President and Head of Product at AdvancedMD, as Chief Product Officer to lead product strategy and its healthcare offering, Knack Health. The no-code platform launched Knack Health earlier this year with HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and a signed Business Associate Agreement, and in early 2025 released an MCP server connecting AI coding tools including Lovable, Claude Code, Base44 and Replit to its HIPAA-compliant backend. CEO Derek Hutson said Costantino's nearly two decades of healthcare technology experience will accelerate delivery of healthcare innovation and expand what Knack Health can do.

Knack has appointed Tim Costantino Chief Product Officer, bringing in the former AdvancedMD product executive to lead its product strategy as the no-code application platform expands deeper into healthcare through Knack Health. Costantino will lead Knack’s product team and oversee development of the company’s healthcare offering, which combines no-code application development, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and connections to AI coding tools. His appointment follows the launch of Knack Health earlier this year and comes as the company positions the platform for healthcare organizations that want to develop customized applications while meeting security and compliance requirements. “While AI is transforming healthcare in many ways, teams aren’t able to fully leverage agentic development and vibe coding due to compliance and security concerns,” Knack CEO Derek Hutson said. “Tim has spent his career building healthcare technology that meets organizations where they are. His experience is exactly what we need to accelerate our ability to deliver healthcare innovation and expand what Knack Health can do.” Costantino brings nearly two decades of product and technology experience, including leadership across electronic health records, practice management and patient engagement software. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Product at AdvancedMD, a cloud-based healthcare software provider serving independent medical practices across the United States. At AdvancedMD, Costantino led product strategy across the company’s practice management, EHR and patient engagement suite. His responsibilities also included the company’s expansion into AI-powered workflow automation, developing tools intended to reduce administrative work for healthcare providers. That background closely aligns with the market Knack is targeting with Knack Health. Rather than developing a fixed application for a particular healthcare workflow, Knack provides infrastructure that allows organizations to create their own database applications without traditional software development. Knack Health extends that model with HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and a signed Business Associate Agreement, or BAA, for healthcare organizations working with protected health information. The company is now adding AI-assisted development to that architecture. Earlier this year, Knack launched an MCP server that connects AI coding tools including Lovable, Claude Code, Base44 and Replit directly with Knack’s HIPAA-compliant backend. The combination is designed to address a specific constraint emerging as AI-assisted software development becomes more accessible: healthcare organizations may be able to build applications faster using AI tools, but those applications still need infrastructure appropriate for handling sensitive healthcare information. Knack’s strategy is to provide that underlying compliance-ready environment while allowing customers to use AI development tools as part of the application-building process. That makes Costantino’s appointment particularly relevant to the company’s next stage. His experience at AdvancedMD gives him familiarity with the operational requirements of healthcare software, while his work on AI-enabled workflow automation provides a connection to Knack’s efforts to combine healthcare infrastructure with newer application-development methods. Before AdvancedMD, Costantino held product and technology leadership roles at SS&C Technologies, StayWell and National City Bank. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University, with an emphasis in Artificial Intelligence and Psychology. “Healthcare builders have more tools available than ever, but compliance still creates a ceiling on what most platforms can do,” Costantino said. “The combination of a no-code foundation, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, and direct integration with AI coding tools is a genuinely different starting point for healthcare organizations.” As Chief Product Officer, Costantino will be responsible for turning that combination into a broader product strategy. Knack Health currently targets healthcare providers, private practices, specialty clinics, health-focused nonprofits and other organizations that need customized database applications. The platform is designed to let those organizations develop applications without maintaining a conventional software engineering operation for every internal workflow. The addition of AI coding integrations potentially broadens the range of people who can participate in application development, but healthcare creates requirements that general-purpose development platforms do not necessarily address. Knack is positioning its backend as the layer that bridges those two environments: rapid no-code and AI-assisted development on one side and HIPAA-oriented infrastructure on the other. The company did not disclose specific revenue targets for Knack Health, customer numbers for the healthcare business or a timetable for new products under Costantino’s leadership. His appointment nevertheless makes healthcare a clear product priority for Knack. The company has historically operated as a general no-code platform for building custom database applications. Knack Health gives it a more vertically focused offering, with healthcare-specific compliance infrastructure layered onto the broader platform. That vertical strategy also changes the requirements of product leadership. Building for healthcare organizations involves not only application functionality but also security, data handling and workflows that can vary considerably among providers and practices. Costantino’s background across EHR, practice management and patient engagement systems gives Knack an executive who has worked across several of those workflows. The company’s AI strategy adds another dimension. Rather than competing solely as a standalone AI application builder, Knack is connecting third-party AI coding environments to its own backend through MCP. That approach allows it to focus on the infrastructure and application layer while participating in a broader ecosystem of AI development tools. For Knack, the opportunity is to make healthcare application development faster without requiring customers to trade away the compliance infrastructure they need. Costantino will now lead the product organization responsible for developing that proposition, as Knack seeks to turn Knack Health from a new vertical offering into a larger part of its business.
