In re Google Generative AI Copyright Litigation, Judge Eumi Lee granted the unopposed motion of publishers Cengage and Hachette to withdraw their motion to intervene.
Judge Lee also denied Google’s request for attorneys’ fees it spent in opposing the motion to intervene. But Judge Lee also expressed concern “that the publishers filed their new case 3,000 miles away – a tactic that will surely duplicate efforts and waste judicial and party resources.”
That case, * Hachette v. Google*, might be transferred to the Northern District of California.
