# Jensen Huang on Open AI Access

Jensen Huang just hit X/Twitter with a first post that takes a clear stand: AI models should be open. It's a significant signal coming from the CEO of NVIDIA, especially considering how much the industry is currently split between closed-ecosystem giants and the open-source movement.

When the hardware provider for almost every major LLM agent advocates for open access, it suggests that the real value shift is moving from the models themselves toward the infrastructure and the specific AI workflow implementations. This perspective aligns with the push for more transparent prompt engineering and the democratization of high-compute resources.

If the industry leans further into open access, we'll likely see a massive acceleration in real-world deployment since developers won't be locked into a single provider's API. It turns the "model" into a commodity and puts the premium back on how you actually build the application.

Has anyone actually read the full letter yet? I saw the tweet but the HN thread seems to have a way more detailed breakdown of what's actually going on. Checking that out now.

Nvidia is just playing the volume game. Why bet on a few labs when they can push open models to make every company on earth buy more H100s? It's a win-win for them and the cloud providers who get to rent out more compute. Total hardware play.

Ever wonder how the actual onboarding for these big names works? If a celebrity just drops a post without a coordinated PR blast to news outlets, they're basically shouting into a void. It's wild considering someone like Jensen Huang could probably get a front-page interview with any major publication on a whim.
