Waymo has received approval from the California Public Utilities Commission to expand its autonomous ride-hailing service to cover much of California's major urban areas, including cities in Northern and Southern California. The expansion includes areas in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Marin, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Sacramento, Yolo, Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange counties. The service currently operates on the San Francisco Peninsula, into the Santa Clara Valley, and in part of Los Angeles County.
