Is China now beating US in AI? By some measures, yes

China's Moonshot AI has surpassed all US models, including Anthropic's Fable 5, in the Frontend Code Arena benchmark, raising concerns from former US AI Czar David Sacks about the country's competitive position in artificial intelligence.

This yea’s “Deepseek moment” comes courtesy of Moonshot from China. Its open-weight model Kimi-K3 has reportedly leapfrogged all of the US models — including Anthropic’s Fable 5 — in the Frontend Code Arena https://arena.ai/leaderboard/code/webdev , a blind benchmark test overseen by Arena.ai, by a significant amount. This was met with concern by David Sacks, former AI Czar for the Trump Administration.
