And based on my time with the beta, Messages’ best new feature is a convenient time-saver: one-tap suggestions. ## Messages app gets convenient new ‘suggestions’ feature in iOS 27 Tech companies love to label everything ‘AI’ to appear relevant, cutting-edge, and make Wall Street happy. But in my experience, the average user doesn’t want more AI in their lives, they just want tools that add convenience to life. Apple seems to get this, and its new ‘suggestions’ feature in iOS 27 is a great example. In iOS 27, the Messages app offers quick actions powered by AI. Apple calls these ‘one-tap suggestions.’ [Per Apple](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/06/apple-intelligence-brings-powerful-ai-capabilities-into-everyday-experiences/): Messages offers one-tap suggestions based on the context of users’ conversations, making it easier than ever to get things done, such as creating a reminder or a note. For example, if someone asks for photos, Messages can also help users find the right ones, recognizing keywords, locations, and people in their library to find the best options. Essentially, thanks to private on-device intelligence, your Messages app can understand the contents of a conversation and anticipate when you might want to take action on a message. Creating new reminders and notes are the most common that I’ve seen, but it’s great for finding photos too. What I’ve found especially nice is that suggestions will include helpful context in the reminder or note it creates. For example, my wife asked me to pick up some prescriptions at CVS the other day, and the reminder was titled ‘Pick up prescriptions’ while the note field included the full details on Jess’s request. This kind of Apple Intelligence feature is something I can fully endorse. It’s not AI for the sake of AI.
