iOS 27 beta 5 adds option to upgrade iCloud+ subscription for more AI Apple's iOS 27 beta 5 confirms that higher iCloud+ tiers unlock more access to Apple Intelligence features, with a 2TB plan supporting AI summaries for five cameras and a 12TB plan for 15, according to a report from 9to5Mac. The new upgrade page in the Home app encourages users to upgrade their iCloud+ plan for more AI features, aligning with CEO Tim Cook's earlier hints about paid subscriptions for heavy AI users. iOS 27 beta 5 arrived this week https://9to5mac.com/2026/08/10/ios-27-beta-5/ , and it includes confirmation of something Apple has hinted https://9to5mac.com/2026/07/30/siri-ai-may-require-a-paid-subscription-for-heavy-users/ before: paying for higher iCloud+ tiers unlocks more access to Apple Intelligence features. Higher iCloud+ tiers unlock more access to AI features in iOS 27 If you’re an iCloud+ or Apple One subscriber http://one.apple.com/?at=1000l3cvR&itscg=30200 , iOS 27 will introduce new features https://9to5mac.com/2026/06/08/icloud-subscribers-will-get-new-benefits-in-ios-27/ with your subscription. You’ll get more access to Apple Intelligence features that have usage limits such as image generation , and also new HomeKit Secure Video capabilities for cameras. But according to iOS 27 beta 5, it seems those new features will vary in limits based on your iCloud+ plan. Inside the Home app ⇾ Home Settings ⇾ Apple Intelligence ⇾ Cameras and Language, iOS 27 now shows how many cameras your iCloud+ plan supports AI summaries for. Per Stephen Robles on X https://x.com/stephenrobles/status/2087014313458299046?s=61&t=a-bloX1n-TZ50ofqhetO1A : The image Robles shares on the right is from a new screen you can get to by hitting ‘See iCloud+ Plans’ on that ‘Cameras and Language’ page. It reads: Upgrade your iCloud+ Plan for More Apple Intelligence Get more access to intelligence features, increased storage, and more. The page then shows your current plan and includes an option to upgrade to a higher tier. It doesn’t yet show you all the different plans, but that’s likely a beta bug that will be resolved before launch. From what I’ve seen in the beta so far, it seems that a 2TB iCloud+ plan provides AI summaries for five cameras and the 12TB plan gets you 15. It’s unclear what every other plan offers. But the language of this new upgrade page in the beta strongly suggests that each higher iCloud+ tier includes not only AI summaries for more cameras, but higher usage for other AI features too. And this is very much what CEO Tim Cook suggested https://9to5mac.com/2026/07/30/siri-ai-may-require-a-paid-subscription-for-heavy-users/ in the last Apple earnings call.
