Interview reveals Ed Zitron does not understand how AI works at any level

Alexander McCoy publicly criticized a David Sirota interview with Ed Zitron and Matt Stoller, saying it contained "extremely basic misunderstandings about how AI works, mechanically" and an "objectively wrong description of the Hugging Face incident." McCoy also said Zitron showed ignorance about why model chain-of-thought reasoning appears in English, arguing it is for safety reasons and that reasoning in "neuralese" would be less safe. The criticism circulated alongside a promotion for a live X discussion in which Sirota was set to talk with New York Assemblymember Alex Bores about a $30 million effort to unite Democrats around AI safeguards.
