Insider buying, straight from the filings: a pay-per-call Form 4 API for AI agents

ExchangeRebel launched a pay-per-call API that serves SEC EDGAR Form 4 insider-trading data to AI agents, charging $0.005 per query and $0.01 per changes-since call via the x402 payment protocol on Solana. The service offers free precheck, schema and health endpoints, and the company says it settle-tested both paid endpoints end-to-end with real USDC payments from its own Phantom wallet, verified on-chain, though it acknowledges these were internal test payments rather than customer revenue. The API is one of 59 services in the ExchangeRebel fleet, spanning 180 paid operations and 184 MCP tools.

Every insider trade at a US public company is public information. Officers, directors, and 10% owners have to file a Form 4 with the SEC within two business days of a transaction. The catch is the format: the data lives inside EDGAR filings, one XML document at a time, and turning that into something a program can actually query takes real work.

We did that work once, so agents don't have to repeat it. The result is a small, boring, pay-per-call API on ExchangeRebel β€” and "boring" is the point.

The dataset is built from SEC EDGAR Form 4 filings:

Each record is the transaction as filed: who traded, what they bought or sold, how much, at what price, and when. One filing in the source data was future-dated; it sits in quarantine and is never served. If the data can't be right, it doesn't ship.

Query β€” $0.005 per call

GET /toll/insiders/query?ticker=AAPL

Returns the insider transactions matching your filters. A query for AAPL currently returns 158 transactions. Your payment includes the full matching result set for that query, with the dataset's as-of date carried in the response.

Changes-since β€” $0.01 per call

GET /toll/insiders/changes-since?since=2026-10-21T00:00:00Z Returns what changed after a timestamp you supply β€” new filings and new transactions since your last look, so a monitoring agent doesn't re-buy the whole dataset every cycle. Your payment includes every change in that window, again with the as-of date stated.

Every paid answer states plainly what the payment included. That's a fleet-wide rule at ExchangeRebel, not a feature of this one service: you only pay for delivered answers.

Payment is the last step, not the first. Three routes are free:

/toll/insiders/precheck β€” returns the live counts and the as-of date, so you can confirm the dataset covers what you need /toll/insiders/schema β€” the exact response shape/toll/insiders/health β€” service status The flow for an agent is the standard x402 one: call the endpoint, get a 402 challenge stating the exact price, pay on Solana (USDC, with a SOL rail quoted in the challenge), and the answer comes back with your payment receipt. No account, no API key, no subscription, no minimums.

In practice, an agent watching insider activity does three things. It reads /precheck for free to confirm the dataset is current. It pays $0.01 for changes-since on whatever cadence it runs β€” hourly, daily β€” and receives only the filings that landed after its last check. And when something in that window matters, it pays $0.005 for a full query on that ticker. No standing subscription burns money between events; the cost follows the activity, and each answer arrives with its as-of date attached, so the agent always knows how fresh its picture is.

Before announcing this, we settle-tested both endpoints end-to-end with real payments from our own Phantom wallet β€” $0.005 for a query, $0.01 for a changes-since call β€” and verified the settlements on-chain. To be precise about what that proves: it proves the payment rail and the delivery work. Those were our own test payments, not customer revenue, and this service has no external traction to claim yet. It launched this week.

Insiders is one service in the ExchangeRebel fleet: 59 services, 180 paid operations, and 184 MCP tools, all pay-per-call under the same rules β€” free pre-check, price stated up front, payment includes stated in every answer.

If your agent tracks insider activity β€” for a trading signal, a diligence check, or a monitoring loop β€” the catalog, schema, and pre-check are open to read right now: Corrections and hard questions welcome. If you find a record that doesn't match its filing, we want to know β€” the quarantine exists because we'd rather drop data than serve it wrong.
