I Tested Seedance 2: What AI Video Generation Still Gets Right — and Wrong

Seedance 2, an AI video generation model, produces more deliberate camera motion and better lighting, color, and mood consistency than earlier models, but still struggles with small object shape changes, unnatural complex movements, and prompt overload, according to a test by an unnamed developer. The developer recommends structuring prompts like a short production brief and notes that professional results still require human editing, while also promoting AIIDE, an AI API service that provides access to multiple models including Seedance.

AI-generated video has moved beyond short, random clips that look impressive only for a few seconds. Newer models are beginning to understand camera movement, visual continuity, atmosphere, and scene composition much better.

I recently tested Seedance 2 to see how well it could turn a detailed creative idea into a finished video. The result was impressive — but it also revealed several important lessons for anyone experimenting with AI video generation.

The Idea Behind My Test

Instead of using a simple prompt such as “create a cinematic advertisement,” I described the scene more precisely.

I included:

The visual style and atmosphere

Camera angles and movement

The order of each scene

Lighting and environmental details

The actions performed by the subject

The expected pacing and transitions

This gave the model more direction while still allowing it some creative freedom.

What Seedance 2 Did Well

One of the strongest parts of the result was the camera motion. The movement felt more deliberate than many earlier AI-generated videos, especially when the prompt clearly described tracking shots, close-ups, or changes in perspective.

Seedance 2 handled lighting, colour, and mood surprisingly well. When the prompt specified a cinematic, futuristic, commercial, or dramatic style, the generated scenes generally maintained that direction.

Maintaining consistency is one of the biggest challenges in AI video. Objects, faces, clothing, and environments can suddenly change between frames.

Seedance 2 did not eliminate this problem completely, but the short scenes in my test remained reasonably coherent. This makes it useful for advertisements, concept videos, product showcases, and social media content.

Traditional video production may require a camera crew, location, actors, editing, and multiple rounds of production. AI video does not replace all of that, but it makes early-stage experimentation much faster.

You can test different concepts before investing in a full production.

Where It Still Struggles

The output was not perfect.

Small objects sometimes changed shape, complex movements could feel unnatural, and scenes with many simultaneous instructions were less consistent. Text appearing inside the video also needed additional editing. Another challenge was prompt overload. Adding more detail does not always create a better result. When too many actions are packed into a short duration, the model may ignore certain instructions or combine them incorrectly.

A good AI video prompt should work like a short production brief.

A useful structure is:

Subject + action + environment + camera movement + lighting + visual style + timing

For example: A professional developer working in a dark modern studio, switching between multiple AI models on a large display. The camera slowly moves from behind the developer toward the screen. Blue and violet interface lighting, cinematic technology commercial, realistic motion, shallow depth of field.

For a video containing multiple shots, divide the prompt into time segments: This makes the intended sequence easier for the model to interpret.

For concept development, social media content, product demonstrations, storyboarding, and short advertisements, I believe it is already useful. However, professional results still require human judgment. Prompt refinement, repeated generations, clip selection, sound design, text placement, and final editing remain important.

The model can generate the raw material, but the creator still determines whether the final video communicates a clear idea.

While experimenting with different AI models, I noticed another challenge: each provider can have its own access method, documentation, billing system, and workflow. That is one reason we have been developing AIIDE, an AI API service that provides access to multiple text, image, audio, and video models — including Seedance — through one platform.

I am currently looking for developers and AI creators who are willing to test the platform and share honest feedback. There is no pressure to purchase anything; the goal is to understand real workflows and improve the experience.

If you are already experimenting with AI video APIs, I would be interested to know: What is your biggest challenge — generation quality, consistency, cost, speed, or API integration?

Seedance 2 shows how quickly AI video generation is improving. The most interesting part is not simply that it can generate attractive footage. It is that creators can now move from an idea to a visual prototype within minutes.

The technology still has limitations, but it is becoming a genuinely useful creative tool.

The people who learn how to combine clear prompting, experimentation, and human editing will likely get the best results from this new generation of AI video models.
