{"slug": "i-open-sourced-gods-eye-view", "title": "I Open Sourced God’s Eye View", "summary": "Developer Bilawal Sidhu has open sourced God's Eye View, a real-time satellite and CCTV tracking simulator that lets users query a 3D globe with natural language voice commands. The project, available on GitHub, uses real data from satellites, planes, vessels, and cameras, and includes features like FLIR mode. Sidhu encourages users to extend the codebase and notes that historical data features are being developed by his company, Halfpixel AI.", "body_md": "You asked, so it’s happening. God’s Eye View, open sourced, [live on GitHub](https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view).\n\nThis thing feels like a spy satellite simulator. Click on a satellite, plane, vessel or CCTV camera and you can track it. Turn on FLIR mode and suddenly you’re wondering, holy crap, is this real?\n\nThe thing is, the aesthetics are *obviously* having a little bit of fun. Makes it feel like you’re in a spy thriller movie. But the data underpinning it is actually real.\n\nAnd now you can use voice to ask the planet questions in natural language, and it annotates a 3D globe with the answer.\n\n**Watch the deep dive on YouTube, or head over to the GitHub readme. **\n\n## How To Get Started\n\nSimply point your AI agent of choice to the [GitHub repository](https://github.com/bilawalsidhu/gods-eye-view). Ask it to help you set everything up, including getting the API keys you need, and it’ll guide you through the entire process.\n\nI’ve taken particular care to minimize the amount of paid APIs needed to get a decent baseline experience, but I do suggest looking at the full list in the readme to really take advantage of all the features. Many of the APIs I’ve selected have a very generous free tier as well.\n\n## What’s Next\n\nIf God’s Eye View (GEV) is missing a layer or a functionality that you want, feel free to open an issue or, heck, send a PR.\n\nThis repo is the baseline, it stays open, and the whole point is for you to break things and bolt on layers I couldn’t even imagine.\n\nNow the moment you try to go back in time — tiling, serving, and scrubbing *what happened* and *what changed* at any real resolution — the data gets expensive and the compute does too. For that, we’re building something [pretty cool](https://halfpixel.ai). But more on that in the future.\n\nBurned a lot of time and tokens on this build. Have fun with it, break it and extend it. Cannot wait to see what you cook up! And as always, see y’all in the next one :)\n\n-Bilawal", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-open-sourced-gods-eye-view", "canonical_source": "https://www.spatialintelligence.ai/p/i-open-sourced-gods-eye-view", "published_at": "2026-08-25 14:56:49+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-08-26 12:13:12.301492+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence", "ai-tools", "ai-products", "computer-vision", "generative-ai"], "entities": ["Bilawal Sidhu", "God's Eye View", "GitHub", "Halfpixel AI"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-open-sourced-gods-eye-view", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-open-sourced-gods-eye-view.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-open-sourced-gods-eye-view.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-open-sourced-gods-eye-view.jsonld"}}
