The workflow returns four outputs in a single LLM call, and its prompt explicitly constrains the model to source material, instructing it to write \"not stated\" rather than invent owners or due dates. The developer also offers paid templates for scheduled, multi-source versions delivered to Slack or Notion.", "body_md": "Meetings end, notes get lost, and action items live in someone's head until they don't.\n\nI got tired of re-reading raw transcripts to work out who owed what, so I automated it with n8n + GPT-4o-mini. It is free, it is on GitHub, and you can import it in about a minute.\n\nYou paste a transcript (or a messy bullet list of what was said) and the workflow returns four things:\n\nNo database. No extra credentials beyond your OpenAI key. One LLM call per run.\n\nThe trick is not \"summarize this\". It is telling the model exactly which sections to return and constraining it to the source:\n\nOnly use information present in the notes. If something is unknown, write \"not stated\" instead of guessing.\n\nWithout that line, models happily invent owners and due dates. With it, you get a table you can trust. I also ask for an Action | Owner | Due table so the output is usable in a standup, not just a nice paragraph.\n\nIf you want the production version (scheduled, multi-source, delivered to Slack or Notion), the paid templates in my store do the end-to-end job: [https://payhip.com/haopengailab](https://payhip.com/haopengailab)\n\nFree stays free. Fork it, change the prompt, ship it.\n\nIf you build something with it, tell me what you would add first: a Notion sync, a Slack recap, or a CRM note.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-built-a-free-n8n-workflow-that-turns-messy-meeting-notes-into-action-items", "canonical_source": "https://dev.to/haopengai/i-built-a-free-n8n-workflow-that-turns-messy-meeting-notes-into-action-items-1gff", "published_at": "2026-10-08 00:09:27+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-10-08 00:16:53.778617+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["ai-tools", "large-language-models", "generative-ai", "developer-tools"], "entities": ["n8n", "GPT-4o-mini", "OpenAI", "GitHub", "Slack", "Notion"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-built-a-free-n8n-workflow-that-turns-messy-meeting-notes-into-action-items", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-built-a-free-n8n-workflow-that-turns-messy-meeting-notes-into-action-items.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-built-a-free-n8n-workflow-that-turns-messy-meeting-notes-into-action-items.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/i-built-a-free-n8n-workflow-that-turns-messy-meeting-notes-into-action-items.jsonld"}}
