Hybrid Compute in Perplexity Computer

Perplexity announced hybrid compute in Perplexity Computer, available today in the Perplexity Mac app, which lets the AI start tasks in the cloud and then move to a local model on a user's Mac for steps involving private files or sensitive data. The feature uses a privacy gate that detects personally identifiable information (PII) before it leaves the device, and Perplexity is open-sourcing the classifier, with research and model available on its blog and Hugging Face.
