Human attention merits human effort Here’s a hearty amen to Tom Bedor’s answer to the question, “When is it OK to forward the output of an AI to another human to read?”
If useful, I send AI generated content to teammates. But when doing so, I take care to clearly label what is AI generated, and I add my own commentary alongside it. For human code review requests, I always review my AI-generated code first. Much like human-generated information, some AI-generated information is worthy of human attention and some is not. Before I share something that’s AI-generated with a human, I need to:
- Review it myself
- Confirm it’s worthy of their time
- Disclaim its source
Because, as Tom says:
If you are requesting human attention, demonstrate human effort. This is the way. Human attention merits human effort. Demonstrate you put effort in, and you’re more likely to gain someone’s attention.
Oh, and don’t send raw AI outputs to people. It’s rude. “I asked ChatGPT and this is what it said …”
