HP launches the ZBook Ultra G3a 16, a mobile workstation with up to 192 GB of shared memory and support for language models with up to 300 billion parameters. The laptop targets professionals who want to execute AI workloads locally.
HP positions the ZBook Ultra G3a as a mobile computer for professional AI workloads. The device combines AMD hardware with local model inference, AI agents, and support for professional applications. As a result, users do not need to rely on a cloud environment for every task. The laptop is the successor to the ZBook Ultra G1a.
High memory for local models #
The ZBook Ultra G3a uses up to an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and features up to 192 GB of unified memory. Of this, up to 160 GB can serve as video memory. According to HP, this configuration makes it possible to run language models with up to 300 billion parameters locally, while other applications remain active simultaneously.
The laptop also includes integrated AMD Radeon graphics and an NPU with a capacity of 55 TOPS. A modified thermal design increases the available power by up to 81.8 percent, to 100 watts, according to HP. This should provide sufficient computing power for complex AI models, AI agents, and professional workloads outside the office.
Perplexity Computer #
HP targets the device at architects, engineers, designers, and technical teams. The workstation supports Autodesk Revit 2027, Autodesk 3ds Max, and visualization software from Chaos Enscape, among others. Via an MCP connector for Autodesk Revit, Perplexity Computer can link local AI to project data on the device.
Perplexity Computer comes pre-installed and includes support for specific workflows. HP and Perplexity are also developing task-oriented skills for HP customers. These functions are intended to automate repetitive actions without users having to assemble hardware, models, connectors, and prompts themselves. Data remains local, while a cloud model remains optionally available for tasks requiring more computing power.
Mobile design and management #
The ZBook Ultra G3a 16 weighs approximately 1.9 kilograms and is 17.9 millimeters thick. The device supports secure 5G connectivity via HP Go, allowing users to stay connected even outside Wi-Fi environments. A replaceable keyboard is intended to improve lifespan and repairability.
For IT departments, the laptop is part of HP’s offering for local AI, alongside ZGX Nano, ZGX Fury, HP Boost, and Remote System Controller, among others. HP also plans a calculator to show organizations how local AI can influence cloud costs, performance, and payback period. The ZBook Ultra G3a is expected to be released in October 2026. HP will announce the price at a later date.
