How We Built TRACEFORGE: Graph-Native Autonomous Incident Response on FalkorDB A developer built TRACEFORGE, an autonomous incident response agent that uses FalkorDB as a graph-native data layer to trace cloud attack paths. On a 21-node AWS cluster, the agent's 6-hop OpenCypher traversals complete in 0.3ms, letting it identify a compromised payment pod's path to a PCI cardholder vault 5 hops away and surgically cut a single overprivileged policy edge, reducing records at risk from 4.5 million to zero. The developer reports that GraphBLAS-backed queries between 0.1ms and 0.4ms enable iterative reasoning loops that vector RAG and recursive SQL cannot match. The Blind Spot in Modern AI Security Every cloud security engineer knows this nightmare scenario: a fires on an internet-facing Kubernetes pod or API gateway payment-ingress-api . In SIEMs and LLM security copilots the agent looks at flat log tables or queries a vector database. It sees an isolated container runtime alert. Recommends either killing the pod or querying generic knowledge base articles. Both approaches fail in the world: Killing the pod causes immediate production downtime dropping checkout traffic for thousands of legitimate users. Vector databases and flat logs are blind to graph connectivity. They cannot answer the -hop question: "If this pod is compromised what is the exact chain of IAM ServiceAccounts assumed roles, policies and KMS keys that allows an attacker to decrypt our PCI customer vault 5 hops away?" Cloud environments aren't lists or text chunks. Cloud environments are graphs. To solve this we built TRACEFORGE. An autonomous incident response agent that uses FalkorDB as its time connected data sensory cortex. System Architecture: Why FalkorDB? When building an agent that acts in high-stakes production environments, speed and deterministic correctness are non-negotiable. Why FalkorDB Beats Vector RAG & Relational Databases: Vs. Vector RAG: Embeddings calculate text similarity, not topological reachability. Vector search hallucinates attack paths. Misses non-linear transitive permissions. FalkorDB provides mathematical reachability. Vs. Relational SQL Postgres : Finding a 5-to-6 hop path in Postgres requires 6 recursive self-joins or CTEs taking 120ms with intense lock contention. FalkorDB with GraphBLAS: FalkorDB represents the graph as adjacency matrices and executes traversals using linear algebra matrix multiplication. On our AWS ap-south-1 cluster 21 nodes, 19 relationships 6-hop BFS queries complete in 0.3ms. Deep Dive: The 3 Core Graph Capabilities When a triggers TRACEFORGE executes an OpenCypher query to traverse from the compromised container through the cloud mesh: cypher MATCH path = w:Workload {id: 'wl-payment-ingress} - 1..6 - ds:DataStore {classification: 'CrownJewel'} RETURN n in nodes path | n.id AS path ds.name AS target ds.records count AS records at risk LIMIT 1; In under a millisecond the agent reveals that 5 hops away sits fintech-pci-cardholder-vault putting 4,500,000 credit card records at risk. Of terminating the workload TRACEFORGE calculates the graph cut vertex: the single intermediary edge whose removal breaks all reachability to the crown jewel while causing zero collateral damage to benign services. It identifies Policy-LegacyPayments-Overprivileged. Executes a surgical cut: MATCH p:Policy {id: 'pol-legacy-payments} - r:GRANTS DECRYPT - k:KMSKey DELETE r; The agent immediately re-queries FalkorDB to verify zero remaining paths to the vault 4.5M records at risk → 0 . Then it persists the incident into FalkorDB Graph Memory: CREATE m:IncidentMemory { id: 'INCIDENT-2026-9812' alert: 'ALERT-2026-9812' choke point: 'pol-legacy-payments status: 'remediated' timestamp: datetime } ; Because memory is stored natively as graph nodes future agent investigations can query past remediation patterns without blowing up LLM context windows. What We Learned Building with FalkorDB GraphBLAS is a Game-Changer: Query latencies, between 0.1ms and 0.4ms mean agents can execute iterative reasoning loops and graph verifications in time. Redis Protocol Native: Deploying and connecting over Redis protocol via GRAPH.QUERY made our client integration lightweight, ultra-low overhead and resilient. OpenCypher Expressiveness: Writing path patterns like w:Workload - 1..6 - ds:DataStore allowed us to model cloud security without hundreds of lines of graph algorithms.
