Autonomous AI agents (CrewAI, LangChain, AutoGen) are moving from simple chatbots to autonomous action-takers with direct filesystem, terminal, and database access.
The problem? Prompt injection has evolved from "bad words" to remote shell execution and credential theft.
Traditional guardrails rely on secondary LLMs to judge incoming prompts. But secondary LLMs fail over 80% of adversarial payloads (Base64 cloaking, path traversal, indirect prompt injection) while adding 300ms+ of latency.
We built AegisKernel — a zero-trust deterministic security runtime at the syscall boundary.
We audited standard agent setups against 4 real-world zero-day attack vectors:
| Attack Vector | Standard Agent | With AegisKernel |
|---|---|---|
Destructive Root Execution (rm -rf) |
EXPLOITED ❌ | BLOCKED (0.061ms) 🛡️ |
Path Traversal (.env theft) |
EXPLOITED ❌ | BLOCKED (0.041ms) 🛡️ |
Database Drop Injection (DROP TABLE) |
EXPLOITED ❌ | BLOCKED (0.022ms) 🛡️ |
| **Command Chaining Hijack (` | sh`)** | EXPLOITED ❌ |
Summary: Standard Agents: 0% Defense | AegisKernel: 100% IMMUNITY in <0.05ms
Instead of asking an LLM "is this prompt safe?", AegisKernel operates deterministically:
TaintedString. Slicing, upper/lower, and formatting preserve taint labels mathematically.SHELL_EXEC, DATABASE_MODIFY). Tainted inputs attempting dangerous syscalls are killed instantly.
