Sales is not about selling. by a human - no AI was used I have been pondering over this question since last several years as I struggle to sell software. I have watched countless videos, listened and followed many gurus, observed and participated in many online forums and discussions. I have learned that I am not alone and this is a struggle as old as mankind. Sales can be stressing and stress is not good for sales. If you are stressed selling, you will not sell. No one wants to buy from stressed individuals or businesses. That’s why sales teams are better than selling individually because then it’s not only about sales but about working together in a fun way to “sell”. They are a family after-all. Or simply put, sales is a 9-5 activity best done with 1-2 colleagues who are friendly. People like friendly people and buy from them as it feels good. Sales is also not about selling. It’s about meeting someone, being curious & friendly, being compassionate and genuinely helpful and potentially end up in a business contract. This doesn’t mean being soft or avoiding sales to not come off as aggressive. And care should and will show in the end product. That means you put your users and their needs first in designing and developing your products. To make their life easy not hard.
