Louisiana is one of the most colorful states in the US – diverse, fun loving, roguish, with a healthy dose of laissez faire and a political culture to match.

That’s a great base for developing the state’s hospitality and tourism industries. It’s perhaps not the best way to steer an IT organization supporting a multitude of agencies and looking to lay the groundwork for the state to capitalize on the promise of AI.

Just consider the challenges facing [ Adrian Erwin](https://www.linkedin.com/in/adrian-erwin-70479828/]?ref=thestack.technology), who moved from his previous role as IT statewide director of database operations for the Office of Technology Services to become IT statewide administrator for datacenter services earlier this year.

*The Stack* spoke with Erwin at Everpure’s conference in Las Vegas recently, where he discussed how the storage and data management company played an instrumental role in helping get its IT infrastructure back up and running after a cyber attack.
