Hotel MCPs Test

A developer tested RollingGo's hotel MCP server on ModelScope, which offers free, unlimited-call access to hotel search, room detail, and price confirmation data covering 2M+ properties and 110K+ direct-contracted hotels. The reviewer reported setup in under 20 minutes via standard MCP configuration in Cursor and Trae, response times of 300-500ms, and price accuracy mostly matching major OTAs, with coverage strongest in tier-1 Chinese cities and thinner in lower-tier cities.

Building AI travel products, finding a hotel data source is a persistent problem. Integrate an OTA and the barrier is high with heavy commission. Build your own scraper and it's unstable and legally risky. Recently I found RollingGo's hotel MCP on ModelScope. The pitch: free, no call-volume limits. I tried it.

Behind it: 2M+ global hotel properties and 110K+ direct-contracted hotels. Direct inventory with real-time price confirmation. What you see is what you can book. It aggregates 500+ global suppliers. Supports 40+ major LLM clients including Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and Windsurf. Provides an all-in-one booking skill for ClawHub and Coze. Developer partners set country-based markup rates and earn commission. Close to 300 GitHub stars, with both an MCP server and travel skills. This is the hands-on review.

Setup in Trae:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "RollingGo-Hotel": {
      "url": "https://mcp.rollinggo.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Restart Trae and you're calling hotel search, room detail, and price confirmation directly. Free, no call limits. For individual developers, this is a no-brainer for practice projects.

No cheerleading. Objective testing throughout, with an overall score at the end.

Expected a bunch of enterprise info and review delays. Way simpler.

The flow:

Under 5 minutes total. No enterprise qualification review, no manual approval. Register and go. This is huge for individual developers and small teams. Many MCP services make solo developers jump through hoops just to try them. Review takes days.

It's genuinely free. No call limits, no daily quota. I asked around. They're in the early stage, building developer ecosystem through free access. Enterprise plans come later. For developers right now, using it is pure upside.

The most painful part of integrating APIs is hieroglyphic docs. I read theirs and it was better than expected.

What's there:

I followed the docs during integration and rarely hit "docs didn't cover this, had to guess." Documentation quality directly determines how long integration takes. This matters.

Some gaps: advanced features are thinner. Like PMS integration or bulk hotel data import. You'd need to ask their support. For normal use, docs are sufficient.

I tested in Cursor. Standard MCP protocol, so integration is straightforward:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "rollinggo-hotel": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@rollinggo/hotel-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "ROLLINGGO_API_KEY": "YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Restart Cursor and it works. I typed "search hotels near the Bund in Shanghai" and it auto-called the hotel MCP. Results came back in seconds.

From registration to first successful call: under 20 minutes. Faster than any hotel API I've integrated before. Before, integrating one OTA API took a day or two just for docs and debugging.

Easy integration isn't enough. Real use matters. I tested a few core metrics.

Response speed:

That's fast for a hotel API. The OTA I integrated before hit 2-3 seconds at peak. Bad UX. 300-500ms is fine for real-time queries.

Data accuracy:

I randomly picked a few hotels and compared prices and availability with major OTAs. Direct inventory with real-time price confirmation. Most matched. A few hotels had 5-10% price differences—normal, since channel prices fluctuate. Overall data accuracy is reliable. Not made-up numbers.

Coverage:

I tested a few cities. Tier-1 cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen) have full coverage. New tier-1 cities are solid. Tier-2 and tier-3 cities have thinner coverage but usable. They say 2M+ global hotel properties, with international properties being added.

After testing for a while:

Pros:

Cons:

Dimension Score Notes
Integration difficulty 9 Standard MCP, first call in 10 minutes
Documentation quality 7 Basics covered, advanced features thin
Response speed 8 300-500ms, fine for real-time
Data accuracy 7 Mainstream hotels reliable, minor fluctuations
Coverage 7 Tier-1/2 cities good, international and lower-tier need work
Price 10 Free, no call limits. Perfect score.
Overall 7.5 Excellent value for individual devs and small teams

If you're an individual developer wanting to build a small AI travel project or try out MCP, RollingGo's hotel MCP is worth trying. Free, unlimited, simple integration. Zero cost to get started.

If you're an enterprise user building a production product, start with a small test. Check whether data coverage and stability meet your needs. It's still early. Many features are maturing.

Overall, in the free hotel MCP space, this is one of the best I've tried.

What other free, high-quality MCPs do you know? Drop recommendations in the comments. I'll test them one by one.
