In 2021, the data centre unit of Irish building-materials giant Kingspan reported annual revenues of €271 million, a number the company – which made vastly more from its staid old insulated panels business – was not unhappy with.

Then came AI, with its demands for far more dense data centres, and the advanced heat transfer engineering that implies.

On Friday, [ Kingspan reported](https://www.kingspangroup.com/content/dam/kingspan-group-website/documents/2026-reports---presentations/kgr-interim-statement-hy-2026.pdf?ref=thestack.technology) that its Advnsys unit, a "critical infrastructure" business increasingly focused on data centre work, made €1.02 billion in revenue in the first six months of 2026.

Advnsys supplies physical systems surrounding the servers, the ceilings and floors that support pipes and cables, as well as hot-aisle containment and cooling manifold gear.

Its deal pipeline too shows just how big the AI boom has been for picks-and-shovels suppliers in the data centre space, with order intake and order backlog both more than doubling year-on-year.
