VS Code recently introduced a fun experimental feature: an interactive "pet" companion that sits above the chat input and reacts to AI agent activity.
The only catch? It currently only reacts to GitHub Copilot.
I believe this awesome feature should also recognize free and open-source AI coding assistants like Cline, Kilo Code, Tabby, Codeium, Roo Code, and others.
I've opened an official feature request in the VS Code repository, and it has been accepted as a "Backlog Candidate". However, there's a rule: it needs 20 upvotes (👍) within 60 days to stay open and be considered for development.
If you use any alternative AI coding assistant and want to see native, playful support for it in VS Code, please take 5 seconds to drop a 👍 reaction on the main post of the issue!
