Helldivers 2 has had a rough time on Steam recently. Following a wave of complaints from players about balance issues, gameplay frustrations, and other concerns, the game’s Steam review rating dropped to Mostly Negative. Arrowhead Game Studios has been steadily releasing updates and those efforts have already started helping the game’s review score recover.
Now, the developers have rolled out one of the biggest updates in recent months. Patch 6.3.0 introduces a mix of new content, balance changes, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements aimed at making the battlefield more enjoyable for both new and old players. At the time of writing, the game holds a Mixed review rating on Steam, and it may continue to recover.

What does Helldivers 2 update 6.3.0 offer?
One of the biggest additions is the introduction of new Galactic Campaigns. Players can now track ongoing campaigns and Major Orders through the new Control Center terminal aboard their ship. This feature gives more context to the galactic war and offers rewards for completing campaign objectives. An archive system has also been added, allowing players to revisit previous events and story developments.

Arrowhead has also made major changes to vehicles and defensive equipment. The Bastion Tank, Exosuits, Ballistic Shield, and Fast Recon Vehicle have all received survivability improvements. Vehicles now have more accurate armor values, making them significantly more resistant to weaker enemy attacks. Exosuits have also received a cooldown reduction, dropping from 10 minutes to 8 minutes, allowing players to deploy them more often during missions.

Thumbs down reactions have become commonplace on the Helldivers Official Discord – but not with this update
Another great improvement comes in the form of better re mechanics. Players can now reload while dodge-diving, and interrupted reloads are handled much more smoothly. If a reload gets interrupted by ragdoll effects or other actions, it can continue once control is regained.
Several powerful Stratagems have also been buffed. Orbital Precision Strike, Orbital 380mm HE Barrage, Orbital Walking Barrage, and Orbital Railcannon Strike now deal considerably more damage, making them much more effective against heavily armored enemies. Eagle 110mm Rocket Pods have also received damage and accuracy improvements.
Enemy balance has seen significant adjustments as well. Chargers are easier to avoid thanks to longer recovery times after missed charges, while several Terminid enemies have had their durable damage reduced. Automatons also received changes, including nerfs to the powerful Vox Engine enemy, which now has lower health and fewer active units on the battlefield.
