The goals are to stay ahead of network impairments, improve overall network performance and, hopefully, translate those benefits into better net promoter scores (NPS) and lower operating expenses.\n\nRather than focusing only on hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) networks, Harmonic's new AI platform also supports fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks.\n\nThat agnostic approach is important because cable operators need to provide a level of harmonization and an \"intelligence layer\" that extends across both HFC and FTTP networks, explained Yaniv Ben-Soussan, Harmonic's SVP, cloud and intelligent platform. Harmonic describes itself as a \"pure-play broadband\" company that works across cable operators, telcos and a growing number of fiber-only players.\n\nRelated:[Harmonic to sell video biz to MediaKind for $145M](/video-streaming/harmonic-to-sell-video-biz-to-mediakind-for-145m)\n\nExcluding the tier 1 market, the vendor views its AI play as a $1 billion serviceable addressable market (SAM), Ben-Soussan told Light Reading. SensAI is based on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model that charges a monthly subscription on a per-subscriber basis.\n\n##### Focus on tier 2/3 broadband market\n\nThe move also fits a broader trend in cable broadband as operators put less focus on speeds and feeds and much more energy and resources into improving network and service reliability and reducing operational costs. Operators are trying to shore up in those areas by focusing on customer retention as average revenue per user (ARPU) for broadband dips amid cable's shift toward new bundles and [multi-year price locks](/cable-technology/comcast-unleashes-five-year-price-lock-on-broadband).\n\n\"The broadband market is under huge competitive pressure,\" Ben-Soussan said.\n\nCable operators are expanding their footprint with both DOCSIS and passive optical networking (PON) through expansions and, in some cases, mergers and acquisitions, so they need tools that can work across both access technologies, he added.\n\nNotably, Harmonic will target SensAI primarily to the tier 2/3 broadband operator sector. Ben-Soussan said that's because many tier 1 operators, [such as Comcast,](/ai-machine-learning/comcast-takes-ai-to-the-edge) are building or have launched their own AI-powered, network-focused platforms. Many smaller operators desire the benefits of AI, but don't have the resources to build such systems and platforms internally, Ben-Soussan explained.\n\nRelated:[NCTC aims to create 'easy button for AI'](/ai-machine-learning/nctc-aims-to-create-easy-button-for-ai-)\n\n\"ISPs aren't buying AI. They're buying actions and outcomes,\" he said. \"They want to move from being reactive to being much more proactive.\"\n\nAnd it's that scenario that has led the National Content & Technology Cooperative (NCTC), an organization that cuts programming and tech agreements for hundreds of independent broadband operators, to [stand up a new AI Center of Excellence](/ai-machine-learning/nctc-aims-to-create-easy-button-for-ai-). That initiative is focused on developing a subscription-based AI platform for the co-op's 700-plus members. Harmonic has a relationship with NCTC, but is not currently participating in its AI initiative.\n\n##### Here come the AI agents\n\nHarmonic says SensAI, which is built on Google's Gemini model, is agnostic in that the data behind it is sourced from multiple areas, including an operator's own data lake and devices and systems on the network such as provisioning and backoffice systems, network switches and Wi-Fi devices. The AI platform collects and analyzes that data and presents it in a \"network graph\" that keeps tabs on network performance, including alarms.\n\nSensAI also enlists several AI agents focused on different aspects of an operator's networks and services. The Echo agent focuses on customer care, along with Dash (network operations), Scout (field operations), Dojo (daily intelligence), Vista (planning), Nova (provisioning) and Halo (maintenance).\n\nRelated:[Comcast beefs up network capacity, uses AI to keep data demands in check](/ai-machine-learning/comcast-beefs-up-network-capacity-uses-ai-to-keep-data-demands-in-check)\n\nHarmonic isn't providing any specific data on how SensAI has helped in these areas in the early going, but Ben-Soussan said the company has seen the biggest impact so far in field operations by helping operators quickly find and resolve impairments and also through optimizing their IP video systems.\n\nHarmonic has more than a dozen operators in the proof-of-concept stage in North America, Latin America and Asia, according to Ben-Soussan. For example, Alaska's largest cable operator, GCI, is using the Scout, Dash and Dojo agents to improve NPS and lower operational expenses, while Hotwire, a fiber-focused service provider, is live with the Echo, Dojo and Scout agents.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/harmonic-puts-network-ai-on-the-revenue-radar", "canonical_source": "https://www.lightreading.com/ai-machine-learning/harmonic-puts-network-ai-on-the-revenue-radar", "published_at": "2026-09-08 12:00:00+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-09-08 12:59:54.136300+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence", "ai-products", "ai-tools"], "entities": ["Harmonic", "cOS SensAI", "Google", "NCTC", "Yaniv Ben-Soussan", "Comcast"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/harmonic-puts-network-ai-on-the-revenue-radar", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/harmonic-puts-network-ai-on-the-revenue-radar.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/harmonic-puts-network-ai-on-the-revenue-radar.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/harmonic-puts-network-ai-on-the-revenue-radar.jsonld"}}
