Another Nintendo game has a new unofficial PC port with [PaperBoat](https://github.com/HarbourMasters/PaperBoat) from Harbour Masters for Paper Mario 64.

In their Discord announcement said:

"It is with great pride that we announce the release of PaperBoat, our Paper Mario 64 port based on the PaperMario-DX decomp project. Our goal with this project is to provide the means to easily port existing texture packs as well as create new mods and experiences.

We are excited to continue working on this effort, our menus are light at this time but I'm sure folks will have ideas of things to add that will bring the quality of life enhancements that the community has grown to expect."

Before you get too excited though; if AI use is something you feel strongly about, you might want to look away from Harbour Masters. As popular as their ports are for various retro Nintendo games, they appear to be using generative AI quite a lot (from [PCGamingWiki](https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Topic:Zljvpivt5x0j7zzx)). Like a growing number of open source releases on GitHub, they appear to be using *Claude* and *Copilot*.

They have an [AI Policy](https://github.com/HarbourMasters/code-of-conduct/blob/main/AI_POLICY.md) and all that notes "Harbour Masters is not an Anti AI organization, however, we are Anti Slop".

There was another project with [Paper Mario ReCut](https://github.com/SMCGames/Paper-Mario-ReCut), but it doesn't seem to see active development.
