GTM hack: steal engagement with Claude

Founder Namanyay Goel reports that using Claude to automate outreach to people who engaged with competitor or own posts on LinkedIn yielded a nearly 2.5x better response rate, calling it a 'cheat code' for early-stage startups. He recommends sending value-adding messages rather than direct pitches and offers a custom MCP tool at gigacatalyst.com/multiplier/mcp for scaling the process.

it is your primary job as a founder to find people who care about the problem you’re solving, tell them about your solution, and convert them to get sales.

one reliable method that has been working well is to steal engagement from people talking about the exact problem I’m solving already.

i.e. using social media to find people who’ve engaged with posts on my topic and reaching out to them. Here’s how that worked:

almost a 2.5x better response rate!

Tbh, this almost feels like a cheat code: these people are already interested in the topic and ready to talk.

The first step is to find the correct people, here’s two ways to do that

1. Steal engagement from competitors

One easy way to do that is to go to your competitor’s posts and find their best posts. (Fundraising posts are great for this. They get 1000s of people liking and commenting.) So your GTM move is easy: Steal all of that traffic from them :)

Go check out your competitor’s linkedin pages, I’m sure you’ll find something relevant

1b. Or, source engagement from your best posts

…but competitors aren’t your only source. Have you had any good posts get a lot of likes recently? If yes, did you message all of the people who engaged there? If not, you are basically losing out on free money. Dig through your past posts for people who know about you already and send them all connection requests + messages.

Since these folks know you already, they trust you a bit more, and will be willing to talk to you.

2. Send them a value-adding message

now, an easy mistake you can make is just to ask them to for the sale directly. Don’t do this, that’s too aggressive.

Instead, try to continue the conversation by making it about the topic and idea as a whole. One trick is to send them a relevant blog post or article on the topic and kick a discussion off that way.

Whatever you choose, try making it sound natural rather than too salesy or pushy. People don’t like being sold to or pitched - but they do like discussing topics that are interesting to them.

3. Execution

If you’re early, just doing it one or two times with Claude Cowork or any browser automation tool will work. But if you want to do it at scale, you’ll hit some harsh realities about outreach to hundreds of people, like ensuring you’re messaging them accurately over multiple days. This is simply a hard problem. And at scale, browser automation is quite brittle and expensive. I made a lean MCP for myself that is being used by me + my founder friends, you can check it out at gigacatalyst.com/multiplier/mcp (has a free trial too) I like it because I can basically just paste the link into Claude and it will create an automated background job that will find everyone and message them while running my account in the cloud. Here’s what that looks like, just one command and it adds all these leads to a queue to be automatically connected and messaged over time (literally took me 30 seconds to set this up for a recent linkedin post):

You can try it out yourself at gigacatalyst.com/multiplier/mcp there’s a generous free trial.

4. Go get that bread

I’ve shared one of the easiest GTM techniques that every early-stage startup should try. I’ve proven it works for myself and others, so you’re probably also going to get some sales or calls if you do this correctly. It’s now up to you to execute. What post will you try this with?

Keep accelerating, Namanyay
