xAI's chatbot can now read your emails, manage your calendar, and browse your OneDrive, turning Grok into a full-fledged Microsoft 365 co-pilot.
Grok just got the keys to your Microsoft productivity suite. xAI’s AI chatbot can now access and perform actions across Outlook, Calendar, and OneDrive through a set of new plugins, effectively turning it into an assistant that doesn’t just answer questions but actually does things inside your work environment.
What Grok can actually do now #
The Outlook Mail and Calendar connectors, which were first documented on May 5, 2026, give Grok a surprisingly deep set of capabilities. We’re talking about searching and reading emails, composing new messages, managing drafts with send permissions, checking calendar availability, and creating or modifying events.
The OneDrive plugin, added to Cursor’s repository on August 27, 2026, extends things further. It enables folder browsing, file reading, and artifact uploads, giving Grok the ability to interact with your cloud storage rather than just your communications. That plugin, along with SharePoint connectors, is restricted to Grok Business and Enterprise plan users. The Outlook connectors, by contrast, are broadly available across subscription tiers.
The Outlook sidebar and subscription dynamics #
Separately from the bot plugins, xAI launched a dedicated Grok for Outlook add-in on July 21, 2026. This creates an in-app sidebar directly within the Outlook interface, offering features like email thread summarization and draft composition without needing to switch to a separate Grok window. The sidebar add-in is limited to paid X Premium and SuperGrok subscribers.
Grok 4.6 and the Microsoft Foundry play #
On August 26, 2026, one day before the OneDrive plugin went live, xAI made Grok 4.6 available on Microsoft Foundry. Earlier iterations of xAI’s models were hosted on Azure infrastructure. The Grok Bot actively draws from Microsoft plugins available via Cursor’s repository, suggesting a developer-friendly architecture that could make it easier for third parties to build additional connectors.
What this means for the AI productivity race #
The OneDrive and SharePoint access restrictions to Business and Enterprise tiers suggest xAI is actively courting IT decision-makers, not just individual power users.
There’s also a security dimension worth watching. Granting a third-party AI read and write access to corporate email, calendars, and file storage raises questions that enterprise security teams will want answered before deployment. The permission model, especially the “send permissions” capability for Outlook drafts, means Grok can technically send emails on a user’s behalf.
