On Tuesday, [9to5Google](https://9to5google.com/2026/08/04/heres-the-first-asus-googlebook/) presented images of a supposed Asus “Chromebook CX9406.” The images first appeared in a since-deleted listing on [iF Design](https://ifdesign.com/en/app/winner?id=762646)’s website. While the product is described as a Chromebook, it’s supposedly using [Aluminum OS,](https://gizmodo.com/the-next-samsung-laptop-could-actually-make-chromebooks-exciting-for-once-2000754122) the codename for the operating system powering Google’s next slate of laptops.\n\nThe Lenovo model is even more interesting. [Digital Citizen](https://www.digitalcitizen.life/exclusive-this-is-the-lenovo-googlebook-15-and-it-changes-what-a-laptop-looks-like/) shared more leaked images of the Lenovo Googlebook 15 with its sleek white chassis. Both the Lenovo and Asus Googlebook contain a dedicated “G” key, similar to modern Chromebook Plus models. It’s likely to work as a dedicated Gemini AI button to bring up a chatbot prompt or other AI features such as Circle to Search. These laptops also sport a key that seems to contain the same “Quick Launch” glyph in the space usually occupied by the Caps Lock key.\n\nThe port selection on each laptop isn’t spectacular, though the build quality is worth noting. iF Design’s listing for the Asus Googlebook, according to 9to5Google, noted that the laptop used an “Ultra-Ceramic Light Alloy” material for its chassis, likely the company’s anodized “Ceraluminum” finish used on devices like the recent [Zenbook A16](https://gizmodo.com/asus-zenbook-a16-review-start-considering-snapdragon-on-pc-for-real-2000743704).
