Historically, Google Voice’s paid offerings were meant for enterprise customers, but Google is now letting you upgrade to a paid calling experience without needing a Workspace subscription.

In the US, Google Voice has offered a free “Basic” plan for years aimed at consumers. All other paid offerings were aimed at large companies and required a Google Workspace subscription.

Google Voice is now offering two plans that you can buy without first subscribing to Google Workspace. To be clear, this is aimed at small businesses or “side hustles,” but it’s available for anyone.

The **Google Voice Starter** plan is $10 per month and provides “professional” features like three-way calling, seamless call transfers, easy call recording, and desktop phone support. You also get 24/7 access to Google Voice support, while the company says “your number will not be reclaimed due to inactivity.”

There’s also **Google Voice Standard** to “scale your business and improve productivity with automated call handling.” The latter aspect includes call routing with auto attendants, while there’s also Gemini.

Introduced last month, “[Take notes for me](https://9to5google.com/2026/06/17/google-calendar-event-colors/)” in Google Voice will transcribe your call, summarize the conversation into key points, and generate action items/next steps. This summary is available in the Google Voice app, while an auto-created Google Doc is emailed to you after a conversation.

Google Voice Standard costs $20 per month, but there’s currently a 50% discount for the first six months.

Tapping your profile picture in the top-right corner of the Google Voice app shows an “Upgrade Voice” prompt. You have to visit [g.co/voice/upgrade](http://g.co/voice/upgrade) to subscribe.
