Google Vault now supports filtered exports for Gemini in Workspace

Google added filtered eDiscovery exports for Gemini in Workspace conversations to Google Vault, letting administrators filter by custodian and date range for organizational units up to 5,000 users and export matching conversation histories as JSON through the Vault UI or API. The exports include user prompts, AI responses, generated attachments such as images, and links to referenced Workspace files and citations across Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Meet. Vault API support will arrive within 14 days of the UI rollout, with retention rules and litigation holds for Gemini in Workspace to follow in future releases.

While exported in JSON, the metadata tags align with the GenAI conversation format used in the Gemini app. - Include conversation context: Exports include user prompts, AI responses, generated attachments such as images , and links to referenced Workspace files such as Drive documents or Gmail threads and citations.
