GF Securities expects Google’s custom AI-chip shipments to more than triple as Alphabet expands its cloud and data-center infrastructure.
Google’s Tensor Processing Unit shipments could rise to 8.84 million units by 2027 from 2.76 million in 2024, according to a GF Securities Brokerage forecast published by 24/7 Wall St. and carried by Yahoo Finance.
The forecast calls for shipments of 2.854 million units in 2025 and 4.504 million in 2026 before the projected jump in 2027. New TPU generations are expected to improve performance per watt and expand capacity for AI training and inference.
Alphabet began recognizing revenue from TPU systems delivered to customer data centers in the second quarter of 2026, with most revenue from those agreements expected in 2027. Google Cloud’s backlog reached $514 billion, while Gemini models process 22 billion API tokens per minute, according to the report.
Alphabet’s second-quarter capital spending reached $44.9 billion, up about 100% from a year earlier. Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai said 2026 capital spending is expected to reach $175 billion to $185 billion.
