# Google Search Live Now Powered By Gemini 3.8 Live

Google Search Live is now powered by Google's latest AI model, Gemini 3.8 Live. Search Live has been around for a couple years now, both in [audio only format](https://www.seroundtable.com/google-search-live-labs-live-39608.html) and then [video format](https://www.seroundtable.com/google-search-live-with-video-39839.html). Search Live was released [globally](https://www.seroundtable.com/google-search-live-global-41119.html) in March, and before that, it removed the [opt-in requirements](https://www.seroundtable.com/google-search-live-40157.html).

Google just announced [Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/models-and-research/gemini-models/gemini-3-8-live-gemini-3-8-live-extended-thinking/) and said this is live for everyone in Search Live.

Rajan Patel, VP, Engineering for Search and Co-founder of Google Lens, wrote on [X](https://x.com/rajanpatel/status/2099914244221489368), "New Gemini audio models just dropped – 3.8 Live is now powering real-time conversations in Search Live. You’ll get:"

- More helpful responses, complete with web links to dive deeper
- Fluid multilingual support (you can switch languages mid convo)
- More natural, free-flowing interactions
