While its $1,099 starting price sits $100 higher than last year's model, the Google Pixel 11 Pro makes up for it by leaning heavily into what Google does best: incredible software and stellar imaging. It easily stands out as one of the most pocket-friendly flagships on the market, offering a comfortable, hand-friendly design without compromising on top-tier tech. Design: Refined, Ergonomic, and Built for Real Life #
The 11 Pro is the middle child in Google's Pixel line this year, with the Pixel 11 ($899) and Pixel 11 Pro XL ($1,299) rounding things out. All three share a similar design and many features, though the standard Pixel 11 is a step down from the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL. The Pixel’s signature camera island, which I always jokingly say is reminiscent of Star Trek’s Geordi La Forge, is now shorter and less obtrusive with edge-to-edge glass. Google says that its new cases let the module sit much more flush against the phone. Testing it myself, the case nearly eliminates the protrusion.
The phone has a fingerprint-resistant finish, which is a relief for anyone who can't stand smudges. My review unit comes in the Canyon colorway, a striking peach hue with an eye-catching gold aluminum frame. Other colors include Fog, Obsidian, or Olive. Unlike the other finishes, the Obsidian option has a matte back.
Dimensions and Weight: Pocket-Friendly Perfection in a Sea of Massive Flagships
The 11 Pro is more pocketable than its larger sibling. It measures 6.0 by 2.8 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and weighs 7.2 ounces, compared with the 11 Pro XL's 6.4 by 3.0 by 0.3 inches and 8.0 ounces. The Pixel 11 has the same measurements as the 11 Pro, but weighs a touch less at 6.9 ounces.
Comparatively, the Galaxy S26+ ($1,099.99) measures 6.2 by 3.0 by 0.3 inches and weighs 6.7 ounces, making it taller but about as wide and thick as the Google device. The 11 Pro feels comfortable in my hand. This is thanks, in part, to the curvature of the sides, but it's also not too large. Unlike other flagship devices that border on enormity, the 11 Pro fits cozily in my palm.
Durability: Tough Protection, Though Accidents Can Still Happen
Google claims all three Pixels are the most durable models yet. Like the Galaxy S26+ and Ultra, the front display and rear panel are made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
According to Google, the 11 Pro models have a coating that doubles the scratch resistance compared with the previous generation. I didn't intentionally put the 11 Pro's durability to the test, but at one point, I accidentally dropped it from about three feet onto hardwood flooring. Unfortunately, the 11 Pro got a pretty gnarly scratch on the bottom of the screen.
All three Pixels have an IP68 certification, making them dust-tight and water-resistant up to about five feet for 30 minutes. The Galaxy S26+ and Ultra have the same rating.
Buttons, Ports, and Security: Zippy Authentication and eSIM Convenience
The right side holds all the buttons, including the volume rocker and power key, leaving the left side completely blank. The power key doesn't double as a fingerprint reader; you'll find that on the screen via an ultrasonic sensor. The 11 Pro also has facial recognition, but I prefer using fingerprint-based authentication, which is zippy, easy to set up, and provides the best security. On the bottom, a USB-C port is flanked by two speaker grilles. On the top edge, you'll find a microphone cut-out on the far left.
You won't find a slot for physical SIM cards on the US version of the 11 Pro; it's all eSIM, and supports up to two active eSIMs at a time. International models include a physical SIM tray.
HiLight: A Clever Notification Concept That Needs Refinement
HiLight is one of the marquee features of the 11 Pro and Pro XL that you won't find on the standard model. Perhaps inspired by the Nothing Phone Glyph Bar, HiLight is a back-panel notification light that lets you assign a specific color to important contacts.
I can see this being beneficial for parents. For example, if you're away from home, you could assign one of five colors—green, pink, purple, white, or yellow—to your babysitter, so you know exactly who's reaching out to you without lifting the phone.
I tested it myself. To start, the feature isn't intuitive to find. Google says you can access HiLight via a tab on someone's contact page, but this actually requires an extra step: hitting a tiny, barely noticeable star at the top-right of the screen. I had a friend call me after assigning him the pink HiLight color, and it pulsed the magenta-esque hue until I picked up the phone.
I'm not sure I'm the audience for HiLight, since I can just as easily turn the phone over to check who's calling or messaging. However, I understand others may prefer the subtle nudge of a colored light to a more revealing lock screen.
This feature is limited to calls and select notifications at launch, but Google says it may extend HiLight to other features later this year.
Display: Shockingly Bright, Outdoor-Ready Visual Brilliance #
The 11 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Actua OLED display with a 2,856-by-1,280-pixel resolution. It supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, thanks to its LTPO panel, which can scale down to 1Hz to improve efficiency. If you want a larger screen, you can upgrade to the Pixel 11 Pro XL, which has a 6.8-inch, 2,992-by-1,344 display and otherwise matching specs. The standard Pixel 11 shares the same 6.3-inch size as the 11 Pro, but downgrades the resolution from 2,424 by 1,080 pixels and the refresh rate to 60Hz-120Hz.
The 11 Pro’s screen is absolutely stunning, with rich, vivid colors that really pop, as you can see in this capture of a hummingbird video on the display (above). Textures feel nearly tangible, from the rough bark of the branch to the fine iridescence of the feathers.
The Galaxy S26+'s larger 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display has the highest resolution at 3,120 by 1,440 pixels, while the iPhone 17 Pro has the lowest at 2,622 by 1,206 pixels on its 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. Both the Samsung and Apple devices share the same 120Hz refresh rate as the Pixel.
The Pixel 11 Pro has a peak brightness of 3,600 nits, up from 3,300. This beats the 2,600-nit and 3,000-nit displays on the Galaxy S26+ and iPhone 17 Pro, respectively. I tested the 11 Pro on a bright afternoon walk in Manhattan, with no trees in sight to seek relief from the sun. Despite the rays shining down over me, the display was still visible enough to cut through the glare and keep text, images, and videos easy to see.
Performance: Built for AI Smartness, Not Benchmark Speeds #
The Google Tensor G6, packed with a more powerful TPU to drive agentic AI experiences, is the muscle behind the Pixel 11 Pro. The base model has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $1,099. You can upgrade to the 512GB storage model for $1,219, which has 16GB of RAM. You need to shell out $1,449 to get the maxed-out configuration with 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM. I tested the 16GB/512GB version. The Pro XL comes in the same configurations (for $1,299, $1,419, or $1,599), while the Pixel 11 is available only in 256GB ($899) or 512GB ($1,099).
The Galaxy S26+ is available in combos of 12GB/256GB for $1,099.99 and 12GB/512GB for $1,299.99. You get the same 12GB/256GB combo on the $1,099 iPhone 17 Pro. Upgrading to 512GB costs $1,299, while the 1TB model costs $1,499.
The Pixel's best Geekbench score was 1,640 for the single-core test and 5,950 for the multi-core test. This is actually *worse *than its predecessor, the Pixel 10 Pro, which hit 2,355 and 6,466 on the single- and multi-core tests, respectively. Looking at the Galaxy S26+, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip delivers scores of 3,593 and 10,845. The iPhone 17 Pro hit 3,820 and 9,820.
On the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test, the Pixel 11 Pro notched a score of 2,963 frames at 17.75 frames per second (fps). The Galaxy S26+ ran 7,381 frames at 42.20fps. The iPhone 17 Pro turned in a score of 5,736 frames at 34.3fps.
For some anecdotal insight into the 11 Pro's graphics performance, playing the intensive Genshin Impact revealed the processor's limitations. While water reflections, shadows, and graphical details were rendered fine, I experienced micro-stutters during heavy combat sequences. Plus, the phone grew quite warm during intense fights. Keep in mind that Google has repeatedly said the Tensor processor isn't designed to run benchmarks at peak speeds, but is instead meant to handle AI tasks.
Battery Life: Still Behind Samsung and Apple #
The Pixel 11 Pro has a 4,850mAh battery, a slight step down from last year's 4,870mAh cell. In our battery test, which involves streaming a 1080p video over Wi-Fi with the display at maximum brightness, the 11 Pro lasted 13 hours, just barely better than the Pixel 10 Pro's 12 hours and 40 minutes. Keep in mind, Google says the phone can run for up to 30 hours under normal use. The Pixel 11 has a 4,985mAh battery, but we haven't tested it yet.
The Galaxy S26+ (4,900mAh) fared better with a battery life of 15 hours and 20 minutes. However, the iPhone 17 Pro is the winner here, delivering an impressive 27 hours and 42 minutes of battery life.
The 11 Pro supports up to 30W wired charging, while the 11 Pro XL supports up to 45W wired charging. The iPhone 17 also supports up to 30W wired charging, whereas the Galaxy S26+ supports up to 45W.
The 11 Pro (and Pro XL), thanks to Google's PixelSnap tech, supports wireless charging up to 25W via the Qi2.2 standard. The iPhone 17 Pro supports wireless charging up to 25W, while the Galaxy S26+ is slightly slower at 20W.
Google claims that the 11 Pro can climb up to 55% in just 30 minutes, so I put this to the test. After plugging in a compatible charger, an Extreme Charging prompt appeared on the screen. Tapping it took me to Settings, where I enabled the 11 Pro's fastest charging. The 11 Pro hit 25% in 15 minutes, 46% in 30 minutes, and 100% in 1 hour and 21 minutes, which is fine, but not quite what I'd call extreme.
Connections: Solid Speed Across 5G and Wi-Fi #
The 11 Pro supports 5G connectivity, including sub-6GHz, C-band, and mmWave connectivity, as well as Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and dual eSIM functionality. The Pixel 11 drops to Wi-Fi 6E, but is otherwise the same.
Connected to the T-Mobile network on Long Island via MetroPCS, the 11 Pro reached peaks of 322Mbps for downloads and 34.9Mbps for uploads. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, connected to the same network, had lower downloads and higher uploads at 308Mbps down and 165Mbps up.
I also connected the phone to my home Wi-Fi 6 router; it delivered maximum speeds of 307Mbps down and 302Mbps up. The iPhone 17 Pro achieved similar download speeds (310Mbps), but struggled with uploads (122Mbps). At the fringes of my Wi-Fi network, where the signal is weakest, the 11 Pro mustered 19.5Mbps down and 25.6Mbps up. The iPhone 17 Pro eked out better speeds for downloads (35Mbps), but not uploads (2.37Mbps).
Audio: Warm, Distortion-Free Sound That Fills the Room #
The Pixel 11 Pro's call quality is decent, plus it does an excellent job at canceling noise, whether it's a loud airplane flying overhead or someone banging around pots and pans in the kitchen.
I tested the 11 Pro's earpiece by placing a decibel meter next to it, and it reached a peak of 85.9dB. Placing the decibel meter six inches away, the speakerphone got pretty loud, hitting 84.4dB. I then played The Knife's "Silent Shout," and it maxed out at 83.3dB.
The stereo speakers on the phone sound smooth. "Silent Shout" filled my room with rich, warm bass and clean highs, letting every moody electronic swell and driving beat shine without a hint of distortion, even at top volume.
Cameras: Instant Night Sight and Impressive Pixel-Level Detail #
The 11 Pro features a 50MP, f/1.68 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and multi-zone laser detect autofocus (LDAF), a 48MP, f/1.7 ultrawide camera with autofocus and a 123-degree field of view (FoV), and a 48MP, f/2.8 telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, OIS, and autofocus. The 42MP f/2.2 selfie camera has autofocus and a 103-degree ultrawide FoV. The 11 Pro XL has an identical camera configuration, while the standard Pixel 11 has a 48MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, a 10.8MP telephoto camera, and a 10.5MP selfie camera. Notably, it doesn't support the Pro models' Super Zoom.
Main Camera: Richer Colors and Sharper 50MP Detail
The 11 Pro relies on quad-binning to produce 12MP images by default. But if you want to unleash the full 50MP, you can easily switch in Settings. To see if the extra pixels actually pull their weight, I took the phone for a spin at a classic car show.
Check out this yellow Chevrolet Nova, taken with the 12MP and 50MP settings:
It takes magnifying-glass levels of scrutiny to spot the difference, but the 50MP capture is sharper. For example, the words on the tire, "Radial T/A," appear softer in the 12MP picture. Further, the 50MP shot is slightly richer and deeper in color, subtly bringing out more saturation and warmth in the car's bright yellow body.
Curiously, for closer shots, the 12MP setting performs better. Check out this shot of a burger and fries:
The 12MP image leans warmer and more golden, making my lunch look more delectable. The fries also look sharper, capturing their crispy texture. On the 50MP version, the fries look too soft and out of focus.
Night Sight: Near-Instant Low-Light Magic
Google says Night Sight is four and a half times faster on the 11 Pro than on the 10 Pro, which appears to be accurate. Capturing photos with Night Sight was quick in testing, taking no more than two seconds to process each shot.
Here is a 12MP capture of this stunning vintage Ford Model A truck, followed by a 50MP image:
As you can see, the 12MP shot is brighter and holds dark shadows at bay, bringing out more detail in the photo. This result highlights the benefit of quad-binning, which aims to capture more light by creating larger super pixels.
Night Sight performs even better on people. One evening, I took a picture of my spouse. It looked so good that I wondered whether a nearby store’s marquee was casting more light on his face than I realized:

Night Sight continues to impress me, pulling in every available photon of light to render images with striking clarity. The final frame is so well-lit you'd swear we were standing right under a streetlamp or in front of a glowing bodega, completely hiding how dark the corner actually was.
Ultrawide: Vivid Color and Stellar Clarity
I'm impressed with the ultrawide camera's exceptional detail and high resolution. Just look at the rich red paint on the convertible below, as well as the powder-blue finish on the car behind it. Plus, I love how it captures the reflections across the convertible's glossy body. There's so much crispness and clarity, you can even read the store's sign.
Zoom: AI-Powered Distance Shots
The 11 Pro has a 48MP telephoto cam with 5x optical zoom. The star of the show here is the new-and-improved Super Zoom function, which goes up to 120x. You have to download Super Zoom from the Play Store before you can use it, which is a massive 1.14GB.
Standing about 2,000 feet away at Riverside Park in New York City, I snapped a photo of a sailboat on the Hudson River. This is how much raw detail the sensor captured:
With Super Zoom, AI then steps in to process the photo and give its best guess of what the picture would look like if it had been taken with a more capable lens. As you can see below, it didn't quite get that the logo said "Polar," and, of course, it's nearly impossible to make out the details of the passengers on the boat from such a great distance. Super Zoom is better at capturing predictable items, such as objects and animals with consistent shapes and details that AI can more easily interpret.
Take this duck I spotted in the Hudson River, for instance. Based on pattern recognition, the AI identified the duck from the few details it had at its disposal, filling in the gaps to produce a clearer, sharper image:
I must say, the idea of using AI to generate an image that wasn't truly captured by the camera itself doesn't fully sit right with me. AI-based computational photography that enhances natural data is (mostly) fine, but fabricating something that isn't shot in the first place is unsettling.
Selfie Camera: True-to-Life Skin Tones and Crisp Precision
There's nothing new with the selfie camera this year, and I'd argue that the 42MP selfie camera doesn't need improvement. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S series, which tends to oversaturate images, the 11 Pro did a great job at capturing my complexion in a balanced manner, as you can see below:
It also captured the ridges in my shirt, the texture of my hair, my messy eyebrows, and even the pores on my skin with almost clinical accuracy.
Video Capture: Solid 8K Recording With Room to Grow
The 11 Pro can record up to 8K video at a max of 30 frames per second. For 4K recording, it can capture up to 60fps. I tested the phone's 8K video recording, and there's not much to write home about. While it can reproduce colors quite well, it struggles to reproduce textures. For example, the lines on the orange shirt I was wearing seemed completely flattened, as if I were wearing a solid top. Apple's iPhone Pro and its 4K120 capture mode continue to be the best for mobile video.
Magic Capture: Automated Frame Selection Made Effortless
Magic Capture, a new feature for the Pixel 11 series, automatically captures the best moments in your photos. I tested it by recording a three-minute dance routine. After pressing the shutter button, the AI kicked in to select the best shots from the recording, with many featuring the subject in majestic poses. Magic Capture took about three seconds to process each photo, making them crisper and sharper. The feature rolled out five photos for me to choose from. If you don't like the photos the AI picked, you can always go back into your recording and save the frames you prefer.
Camera Looks: Custom Style Control Built Right Into the Viewfinder
Camera Looks is Google's answer to Apple's Photographic Styles feature. It allows you to choose and customize an alternate default look, such as warmer tones or deeper shadows, directly inside the imaging pipeline to control the aesthetic of your photos *before *you hit the shutter button. This is useful when the Pixel's default style doesn't work; you can use Camera Looks called Editorial, Velvet, Classic, Digi, Black Tie, and Minimal.

The Velvet filter softens the overall contrast and wraps the scene in a warmer, vintage-like tone that makes the blues and purples feel richer.
Creator Suite: Smart, Built-In Tools for Content Creators
Creator Suite packs a folder and storyboard for quick rough cuts, an audio visualizer, upgraded speech enhancement to monitor levels and slash background noise, and a social media grid to keep shots properly framed. But my favorite tool is the teleprompter. Whether I'm making TikTok videos or Instagram Reels, I usually have to lean on third-party apps to overlay a teleprompter on the viewfinder. After testing the teleprompter, I was impressed with how easy it was to load my script and get right to filming. Plus, the teleprompter adjusts to my pacing, so I don't have to worry about racing to keep up.
Software: Helpful, Forward-Thinking AI That Anticipates Your Next Move #
The 11 Pro ships with Android 17 and will receive seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates, matching Samsung’s commitment to the Galaxy S26 series. We expect five or more years of support for the iPhone 17 Pro, though Apple doesn’t specify an exact timeframe.
Google’s big push this year is AI's ability to anticipate your needs before you even ask. For example, there's Proactive Assistance, allowing Gemini to surface personalized suggestions in chats. In Google Messages, you'll find rich, visual cards for flights and reservations, along with suggested actions and automations, such as booking tables or ordering groceries. There's even a feature that lets AI launch location-based shortcuts on your lock screen. For example, if you’re near a store where you have a loyalty card, Gemini will surface that card for quick access.
However, accessing these new AI features is a bit of a pain. First, you need to toggle on Proactive Assistance, which is buried under Settings. Google then said I needed to update all my apps through the Google Play Store and leave my phone idle on a charger for up to 24 hours to ensure all the models download and the data is processed. (The new Siri in iOS 27 requires a similar initial indexing period.)
Once everything is up and running, the 11 Pro’s software is all about letting AI take the reins, whether that means booking a table through OpenTable, ordering food via Instacart, or simply handling the little tasks you’d normally have to do yourself.

The Google Pixel 11 Pro is a highly pocketable Android phone that shines with its brilliantly bright screen, standout camera features, and forward-thinking AI, making it a compelling flagship despite its higher price and modest chip speed.
