Google Local Knowledge Panel As An AI Overview

Google has begun attaching AI Overview labels to local knowledge panels built from Google Business Profile data, with a "Show more" button that expands into an AI Mode-style chat interface, according to Search Engine Roundtable. Ben Fisher posted the mobile knowledge panel experience on LinkedIn, and Search Engine Roundtable's Barry Schwartz replicated it. The change matters because business owners may lose control over how AI describes their business in local search results.

Google is turning the local knowledge panels, your Google Business Profile, into an AI Overview listing. At the top of the local listing it says "AI Overview" and then there is a "Show more" button to expand, which brings you into the follow up AI Mode style chat interface. I am honestly not a fan of this, but I know Google is AIing every experience, so I am not surprised. I really need to write more about what we are doing there because it is pretty outdated. : In any event, I am not sure I want AI describing my business, when I can.
