Google Calendar this week is adding a nice quality-of-life update that gives users more than 11 colors for customizing events. Additionally, enterprise Google Voice users now have AI-powered “Take notes for me.”

Previously, Google Calendar users were limited to “11 predefined colors for events.” The expanded palette offers up to 200 custom colors for events so that users “can personalize events and visually organize their calendar with ease.”

By default, Google Calendar on all platforms will let users select from 24 default colors. A full RGB color picker is available on the web and Calendar API.

Custom event colors have been a “long-standing feature request from both business and personal users.” It’s rolling out starting today and will be fully available in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Google Voice for enterprise customers is augmenting call recording with “Take notes for me.” Besides recording, Gemini will now transcribe calls, summarize key points, and organize action items, just like in Google Meet.

During calls, the “Record” button is now called “Notes.” There is a “This call is being recorded and captured by AI” disclosure.

Admins are able to customize the consent in the admin console. Admins can also customize the consent language to align with their company’s standards.

Upon hanging up, you can find the transcript, audio recording, and notes in the Voice app, while the notes will also be emailed to your account.

Take notes for me is available with the Voice Standard and Voice Premier add-ons, as well as the Voice Standard standalone plans. It’s available by default for new Voice users, but requires manual enablement for existing users.
