Google AI Overviews Return For Many Large Brand Names

Google is now displaying AI Overviews for branded and navigational queries across most large brand names, according to testing by Chris Long, who reported that 93% of the roughly 100 brands he tested showed AI Overviews. Long cited Reddit, Salesforce, Amazon and Adobe among the brands returning AI Overviews, while Google's own name and news publications did not, and most examples appeared mid-page rather than at the top of the search results.

Google seems to be showing more and more AI Overviews these days and even for many large brand names. It don't have a ton of data but Google does seems to be showing more and AI Overviews for almost every large brand name except for Google's own name and news publications. Yea, he put the number at 93%, he shared this graphic with me: Now, this is only about 100 brands but I tried several just now and it does seem to be happening - well, like I said, except for Google and news publications - for now. And most of the examples have the AI Overview showing up lower down in the search results page, not at the top of the page. For example, here is Wikipedia: Adobe does show at the top of the Google search results for its name: But most show below the main company page or even lower down the search results page. Here are screenshots of other brands, I scrolled down in all these examples - so these are mid-page examples: I don't mind as much if the AI Overview for branded or navigational queries are mid-page as I would if they were above the main company's snippet in the search results. Now I am kind of sad my brand does not show an AI Overview for just the brand name.
