Google has introduced an interactive Character Counter widget within AI Overviews for character counter search queries, a feature spotted by Damir B, who warned that sites like wordcounter.net will suffer heavily from this. The widget appears directly in Google Search results, continuing Google's pattern of embedding tools that make standalone websites obsolete.

Websites that offer character counting service features are in trouble.
