The whole world is using AI, most people not realizing yet that 99% of the output is slop.\n\nSure, I heavily use AI in my business (I wouldn't be able to be this productive without AI), but I make sure to focus on the human touch whenever I can. In the right places. Sometimes, I spend a disproportionate amount of time tweaking a little thing that most would glaze over.\n\nBut sometimes, it's the small details that set you apart.\n\nThat make you seem human.\n\nThat makes a customer care about what you say or do.\n\nThis series is me sharing how I go out of my way to prove I'm not an AI.\n\n## Episode 1: OG / featured images\n\nOG images are a very underrated aspect of visibility. No one really cares about them. But they determine how your content shows up when it's shared around, on Twitter, LinkedIn, Slack, and pretty much every other place that isn't Google.\n\nBrands that spend time and effort on their OG images instantly stand out from the rest.\n\nMost brands don't even bother to define an og:image. In this case, 2 things can happen: your content shows up without image and won't stop anyone from scrolling past your content.\n\nThis is not ideal.\n\nBut what's far worse, in my opinion, if you use images like this:\n\nOr this:\n\nWhen AI images first went mainstream, it was pretty cool to create images like these. But do you want images like these to be the first thing a reader sees when they scroll past your brand?\n\nTo have your brand's first impression be one of AI slop?\n\nI hope not.\n\nHowever, a lot of AI content platforms sell you on the idea that they can create \"SEO-optimized\" content for you! It will be consistent with your brand, your tone of voice, and hey! It will even create unique images for you!\n\n\"WOW! Where do I pay??!\"\n\n... Sigh ...\n\nPlease. Don't. Fall. For. This.\n\nWhenever I create content, I usually follow this order:\n\n**What could the title be of this piece of content?**(Can I find an interesting title that will make someone want to click?)** What will be the OG image**? Before I write any word (besides the title), I spend ~half an hour creating the OG image. Some of my best ones have taken me longer than the content of the actual article itself.- I then write the article.\n\nThis is not me claiming that my featured images are revolutionary works of art.\n\nBut what my images do is show that there's a real human being behind this content.\n\nThat's why I do this.\n\nMy blog roll for shows this quite clearly:\n\nI doodle on my images not because it makes them pretty. It shows that a human has actually created it.\n\nI add silly memes to my images because it shows the sillyness I try to create in my brand.\n\nOr, I really go nuts and create a visual that stands out and encapsulates the topic of what I'm writing about. This one took me over an hour.\n\nFor those wondering, I use Canva to create all my images. It's easy, it works like a charm, and makes creating images one of the more fun things I do when creating content. It's a tool I happily pay the monthly fee for.\n\nAnyway, that's it for this first episode of \"Going out of my way to prove I'm not an AI\"\n\nIt's really easy to stand out in a sea of AI slop. All you have to do is spend some actual time thinking and flexing your creative muscle!", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/going-out-of-my-way-to-prove-i-m-not-an-ai-ep-1-og-images", "canonical_source": "https://huijer.co/notes/going-out-of-my-way-to-prove-im-not-an-ai-og-images", "published_at": "2026-08-22 14:03:09+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-08-22 14:44:13.938598+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["generative-ai", "ai-ethics"], "entities": ["Canva", "Twitter", "LinkedIn"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/going-out-of-my-way-to-prove-i-m-not-an-ai-ep-1-og-images", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/going-out-of-my-way-to-prove-i-m-not-an-ai-ep-1-og-images.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/going-out-of-my-way-to-prove-i-m-not-an-ai-ep-1-og-images.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/going-out-of-my-way-to-prove-i-m-not-an-ai-ep-1-og-images.jsonld"}}
