GitHub Copilot app, Universe releases GitHub released a Copilot app at its Universe 2026 event that organizes work into Projects, now in public preview, where Copilot runs multiple agents in the background across repositories and connected tools such as Slack and Figma and returns results like pull requests for review. The app also adds computer use in public preview on macOS and Windows, letting Copilot read app content, click controls, enter or edit text, and navigate apps without an API, command-line interface, or MCP integration, with approval required before Copilot controls an app and organizations able to disable the feature through managed settings. GitHub said users can also generate and edit images using natural language in chat. GitHub Copilot app, Universe releases Work doesn’t always fit in a single repository or session. A feature can span several repositories. A launch plan can pull in specs, designs, and assets without touching a repository at all. Projects in the GitHub Copilot app give that work one home, with its context, agents, and results together. Copilot coordinates the work in the background and checks in when it needs you. Give Copilot a goal give-copilot-a-goal Start a project, describe what you want to get done, and add the context Copilot needs e.g., repositories, design mocks, Slack threads, or notes from a design meeting . Choose the models and tools for the job. Copilot runs as many agents as the work needs and brings back results e.g., pull requests for your review. Use project automations for repeatable tasks, such as creating a new promo video whenever a feature lands. For a focused task in a single repository, you can still start a session directly from that repository. Copilot Projects are now in public preview. You can also generate and edit images using natural language in chat. Computer use—in public preview on macOS and Windows—lets Copilot read app content, click controls, enter or edit text, and navigate across apps, including those without an API, command-line interface, or MCP integration. Copilot asks for your approval before controlling an app, and your organization can disable the feature through managed settings. To get started, open Settings Computer Use and turn on Enable Computer Use . On macOS, grant the required Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions.
