The AI lab that trains agents using billions of gameplay clips is now in talks for a massive new round, barely months after closing a $320M Series A
General Intuition, the AI research lab that spun out of gaming clip platform Medal, is in discussions to raise capital at a $6 billion pre-money valuation. The round reportedly includes new investors Valor Ventures, Point72 Ventures, and Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six.
If the deal closes at that figure, it would represent roughly a 2.6x jump from the company’s $2.3 billion post-money valuation set just months ago during its Series A.
From gaming clips to world models #
General Intuition’s pitch is deceptively simple: take the billions of gameplay clips that Medal users upload every year, use the embedded action labels as training data, and build foundation models that teach AI agents how to navigate space and time. The company calls these “large action foundation models,” and they’re designed to handle spatial-temporal reasoning, which means perceiving environments, predicting outcomes, and generating actions.
Medal’s dataset is enormous: roughly 17 million monthly active users generating billions of clips annually, each tagged with the specific actions players took. One of General Intuition’s trained models demonstrated continuous gameplay capability for over 100 hours. The model adapted to physical navigation tasks with just 8 minutes of real-world data.
A rapid funding escalation #
General Intuition raised a $134 million seed round in October 2025, then closed a $320 million Series A in June 2026 at a $2.3 billion post-money valuation. Total disclosed funding sits at $454 million before this latest round.
The Series A attracted heavyweight backers including Jeff Bezos through Bezos Expeditions, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt via his family office Hillspire, and Khosla Ventures. Now the company is reportedly courting a new class of investors with Valor Ventures, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six.
Funds from the earlier rounds were earmarked for scaling compute power through partnerships with GPU cloud providers like CoreWeave, along with expanding API access planned for late summer 2026.
Why the embodied AI thesis matters now #
General Intuition’s insight is that video games are essentially physics sandboxes with billions of free participants generating labeled action data around the clock. Every time a Medal user records a clip of themselves landing a headshot in a first-person shooter or navigating terrain in an open-world game, they’re creating training data for spatial reasoning. The action labels come built in.
The real test comes later in 2026, when General Intuition plans to open its API for broader access.
