# Gemini’s new Google Play Store integration lets you chat to find Android apps, games

As [previewed at I/O 2026](https://9to5google.com/2026/05/19/google-play-store-gets-new-ask-play-chatbot-as-gemini-starts-recommending-apps/), the Gemini app on Android now [integrates](https://support.google.com/gemini/thread/445046856/%F0%9F%93%A3-discover-download-and-play-introducing-google-play-in-gemini) with the Google Play Store.

This new “connected app” lets you use Gemini to conversationally browse the Play Store to find Android applications and games. Example prompts include:

- What are some meditation apps
- Recommend a good map app for my phone to download while I’m traveling internationally
- Can you recommend an app that will show me what fish I can expect to see in my upcoming scuba dive trip?
- I’ve been into the blurry, vintage film look on social media – what app can I use to get that 90s disposable camera aesthetic for my photos?
- Find a productivity app to help me with meal planning

Some results will directly display a Play Store card that lists applications with ratings and download counts, as well as a link to “View more in Google Play.” Tapping on an app slides up the app listing to Install.

Other prompts will give a traditional Gemini response that describes various options. In these cases, you can follow up with “Install [app name]” or “Download [game name]” to get the Play card.

Another aspect of this Google Play integration lets you use Gemini to “search for and purchase in-app digital items, subscriptions, or digital gift cards.” Support for gift cards was [introduced last year](https://9to5google.com/2025/10/03/google-play-gift-cards/).

- Purchase [in-app item] for [game name]
- Buy [store name] gift card
- Show me in-app purchases for [app name]

Google says that “Gemini can only recommend in-app items for apps installed on your device.” Additionally, “not all apps support making purchases with the Google Play connected app in Gemini, but the list is actively growing.”

To set up the Google Play connected app, enter one of the above prompts. Gemini will then guide you to connect the Play Store. This integration is still rolling out and did not appear on devices we checked this morning.
