The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 are the first devices with Gemini Intelligence, as well as Gemini Nano 4. In a developer blog post, Google says “Samsung’s new foldable devices come with Gemini Nano 4.” It supports over 140 languages and offers better multimodal understanding. Google’s latest on-device model is based on Gemma 4.

The Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy with 12 or 16 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Flip 8 uses the Exynos 2600 with 12 GB of RAM.

Since Gemini Intelligence was announced in May, android.com replaced the “Gemini Nano v3 or higher” requirement with just “Nano models on device AI.” The “Qualified SOC” line also dropped “flagship” from the requirement.

Gemini Intelligence features are only available on devices with the most advanced capabilities and spec requirements:

(1) Nano models on device AI

(2) Media performance (latest)

(3) 12GB+ RAM

(4) Qualified SOC

(5) Quality in Field: Meet SLOs in 2026. Further enforced in 2027

(6) Quality at Launch: pass test suite on A17+ Google today is treating the expanded task automation with support for over 40 apps as the first Gemini Intelligence feature.

Back in May, Google emphasized that Gemini Intelligence features are rolling out in waves as they become available. We’re waiting for Create My Widget, Gboard Rambler, and Autofill with Google that leverages Gemini Personal Intelligence.

Also on android.com is how Samsung’s three devices have a “with Gemini Intelligence” badge, reflecting how it is for “premium hardware.” The upcoming Pixel 11 series will presumably also carry the badge. It will be interesting to see how much of a selling point that badge will end up being.
