Google continues to expand its Gemini offering for students, with a new Immersive View experience now available in the student app. It remains unclear whether Google is still testing the feature or has already started rolling it out. Either way, navigating directly to its URL should make the experience available now.
Immersive View lets users choose from a wide range of topics, such as space quasars or the dinosaur era. Opening a topic reveals an image with different nodes that explain particular items within it.
Users can click through to another page and dig into further details, creating an immersive, image-based mind map that can be browsed for a deeper understanding of each subject.
Some parts of the experience go surprisingly deep, with five or more nodes to explore as users zoom further in. At certain points, the journey can descend all the way toward atoms and molecules. The format may be designed for students, but it could also entertain grown-ups.
Whether Immersive View is a limited experiment or the beginning of something bigger remains unclear. For now, it remains to be seen whether Google will follow it with an official announcement.
