Google today announced that over 1 billion people are using the Gemini app every month. CEO Sundar Pichai announced the milestone, with Gemini being Google’s “fastest growing product ever.” It is the company’s 14th product to hit that milestone along with Search, Gmail, Android, Maps, Chrome, Play, and YouTube.
In May of 2025, Google reported 400 million monthly active users. A year later that figure hit 900 million, and Google noted another 50 million by late July.
Meanwhile, Gemini app vice president Josh Woodward shared what Google has learned “from the first billion, and what’s coming next.”
Over a tenth of those users (100+ million) are on iOS, with power users on the macOS app prompting approximately “2x more frequently than other surfaces.”
As previewed at I/O 2026 in May, the Gemini app is “rolling out 60+ new regional dialects soon” (timestamped below). Additionally, ”63% of users now talk directly to Gemini,” with the executive noting how there are “more ‘voice only’ users.”
With Gemini Live, 1 in 5 interactions “go beyond voice” to leverage live camera and screen sharing.
Gemini is responsible for generating over 150 million images per day, while the app is adding more study features “over the next few weeks.”
On the Android front, Google highlighted task automation across 40 apps, with “more updates coming tomorrow” at Made by Google 2026.
