Gartner's forecast reframes agentic AI as a procurement and pricing problem, not just a technical one, which is the detail practitioners building or selling AI-driven tools need to plan around. Gartner said up to $234 billion of enterprise application software spending, about 20% of global enterprise SaaS spend, is exposed to what it calls "agentic arbitrage" by 2030: AI agents completing cross-system tasks so users no longer need to touch the underlying software interfaces. George Brocklehurst, Managing Vice President at Gartner, said "agentic AI changes the economics of software" because it "breaks the link between user growth and revenue growth" for vendors that charge per seat. Gartner frames this as a metamorphosis, not a SaaS apocalypse, that favors vendors who embed agentic execution and retain customer context over those defending legacy dashboards.
